Microwave Obscurant Chaff Technology

Based on QR received from Indian Navy, the design of Medium Range –Microwave Obscurant Chaff Rocket (MR-MOCR) and its validation has been completed. Phase-I Trials for visual expansion measurement of MOC cloud has been successfully carried out by DRDO team along with Indian Navy from INS platforms. Phase-II trails of MR-MOCR has been successfully carried out in presence of Reps from Indian Navy. MR-MOCR have been handed over to Indian Navy

Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) System

Realization of energy modules for AIP for P-75 class submarines along with detailed design of AIP plug is under progress. The energy module including its sub-systems has already been designed. The Double Data Rate (DDR) of mechanical system and Vetting of AIP design documents including the energy module/liquid oxygen module is under progress with submarine designer.

Navigation Avalanche and Tracking via Satellite (NATSAT)

DRDO has realized two types of terminals (NATSAT-M and NATSAT-H) under project Navigation, Avalanche warning and Tracking via Satellite (NATSAT). These terminals are mainly developed for snow bound high avalanche areas for advance warning and rescue of soldiers. These can also be used in disaster management operation for land slide prediction and prevention of forest fires. Trials of NATSAT-H and NATSAT-M have been conducted jointly by DEAL and DGRE team during Feb and Jun 2024.

Compact Trans-horizon Communication System (CTCS)

DRDO has designed and developed C-Band men-portable Troposcatter communication system providing communication Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS). The System has been indigenously developed based on the requirement of Indian Army. It provides high data rate, low latency digital communication link in difficult hilly terrain. Indian Army has formulated the QR for induction and Industries are in the process of signing the ToT for production.

CBRN Inflatable Shelter

The CBRN inflatable shelter is a multipurpose collective protection equipment for contaminated areas to be used as command & control post or rest and relief shelter in the Headquarter element of formation / brigade / battalion and for medical treatment centre in field. It will be a setup mainly over ground in the open but can also be setup inside an existing building where feasible. The Inflatable NBC Shelter consists of Inflatable modules which provides protection from NBC Agents and can be erected in a short time.

Short Span Bridging System (SSBS)

The five metre Short Span Bridging System (SSBS) is a mechanically launched bridging system to bridge small gaps and canals. The SSBS is designed and developed in lightweight Aluminium RDE-40M alloy. This is a five metre single span bridging system for military load class of 70. The mechanical handling device is basically an articulated type crane, which is used for launching / de-launching the bridge. It is a hydro-mechanical system which consists of multi stage foldable boom mounted on slewing ring by which 360 degree rotation is possible in horizontal plane.

Advanced Infantry Floating Foot Bridge (AIFFB)

DRDO has designed floating foot -bridge for infantry that can be launched in water current speeds of essential and desirable requirements. Two prototype AIFFB have been realized and this will enhance operational mobility, combat readiness and logistical support. During Jun 2023 PSQR Validation Trials (PVTs) were completed successfully. RFP was issued by MoD in April 2024 for two advanced infantry floating foot bridge and CNC has also been conducted.

Modular Bridging System

DRDO has developed a mechanically launched single span 46m MLC-70 modular bridge with variable bridge length. The bridge superstructure, launching nose and bank seat beams have been tested successfully under simulated loads. The System has completed the user trials successfully and is currently under production. A number of sets have been delivered to Indian Army in 2024.

Laser Ordnance Disposal System (LORDs-N)

DRDO has developed state of art system LORDs-N which marks a significant step forward in India’s indigenous defence technology development. LORDs-N system can be utilized for safe, efficient and quick disposal of unexploded and life expired ammunition. Its laser based technology minimizes risk to personnel and enhances precision in neutralizing potentially hazardous materials. DRDO has delivered vehicle mounted LORDs-N to Indian Navy.

Air crew Helmet

DRDO has developed the Russian and Euro series of integrated light weight aircrew helmet and pressure breathing oxygen mask as per the requirements of IAF. The Su-30 Helmet is equipped with twin visor internally retractable polycarbonate visor and has a provision to mount Helmet Mounted Sighting Display (HMSD). It provides protection against impact and penetration resistance. The helmet mask assembly has withstood the windblast test conditions (600 KEAS) in six different profiles. The Helmet meets noise attenuation characteristics and is equipped with EMI/EMC complied preamplifier.
