Safe and Arm Devices (SAD) are an inseparable part of the modern day smart missiles and projectile systems for safety during storage and transportation. Inertial switches or g-switches are the basic building blocks of any SAD system. High g MEMS non latch switches were successfully handed over to TBRL, Chandigarh for safe and arm applications.

Pru-Decorp-TM is a 500 mg hard gelatine capsule containing a dark blue coloured powder having prussian blue insoluble excipients. This Capsule is an antidote for radioactive Cs/Tl in nuclear emergency situations. Pru-Decorp-MG is a 1000mg hard gelatine capsule that contains prussian blue insoluble and binding efficacy enhancer agents along with pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. Pru-Decorp-MG is a capsule developed for rescue responders.

Kadam is a poly-centric prosthetic knee joint for persons with trans-femoral amputation and is an indigenous and affordable above-knee prosthesis complying to ISO 10328 standards. It is developed by Society of Biomedical Joint (SBMT- coordinated by DRDO) in collaboration with IIT Madras. Trans-femoral (above knee) amputations are one of the most common amputations in cases of trauma and due to diabetes mellitus. Lower extremity amputations in India run into several lakhs and are increasing every year.

Automatic chemical agent detector and alarm system developed by DRDO is used to detect Chemical Warfare Agents (CWA) and programmed Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs). It works on the principle of lon Mobility Spectrometry (IMS). ACADA contains two highly sensitive cells for continuous detection and simultaneous monitoring of nerve, blister, blood and choking agents along with TICs and produces audible and visual alarm. ACADA is a compact, rugged fixed point man portable CWA detector. This can be mounted on vehicle, ship, building and shelters.

One man High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema (HAPO) chamber is a life saving device that provides emergency treatment to HAPO, a condition characterized by breathlessness, tachycardia, tachypnea, mild fever and cough beside blood stained sputum and accumulation of fluids in lungs. HAPO chamber is made out of a Neoprene coated nylon fabric and it works on the principle of increasing the atmospheric pressure around the patient thereby simulating descent in altitude by about 6000-8000ft in a controlled manner when inflated to a pressure of 130 ±10 mm Hg.

DRDO has developed Ring Oil Seal & Seal Carbon Face for Viper aero engine from indigenously developed high density carbo-graphite material. Various tests such as visual checks, dimensional check, material analysis, f itment and operational check on each component have been conducted at Kanpur. After completion of 50 hrs flight trials, post dismantling of the engine were carried out and condition of both the components were inspected. Clearance for induction of both developed components into the system has been accorded.
