The core mandate of ITM is to impart state-of-the-art Technology Management training to the Scientists and Officers of DRDO & other Officers of Tri- services. ITM plays a key role in implementation of Training Policy of DRDO.
ITM plans and conducts approximately 35 Courses, Workshops and customized training in each Training Calendar Year for about 1000 professionals. A special course on Advance Work Study (AWS) is conducted for Armed Forces.
The training is aimed to boost Techno-Managerial Skills of the participants with a view to enhance their competence and effectiveness in the execution of System-Development projects. This is achieved through conducting courses in four verticals namely Technology Management, Project Management, Materials Management and Organizational Behaviour.
Post Induction Training School (POINTS): -
The induction training program, POINTS, sets the foundation for the new scientists and facilitates their seamless integration into the main stream. The program helps them to amalgamate with the organization by understanding systems and procedures in vogue.
Mid- Career Training Augmentation (MITRA): -
After POINTS, scientists join the labs and get hands-on experience on the projects/assignments and are exposed to different kinds of challenges on ground. They are unlikely to undergo any techno-managerial training during this period and hence it is imperative to train them for higher responsibilities at this stage. It is expected that within 10 years the scientists recruited at the level of 'B' would have become 'D' with Mid-Career Training Augmentation (MITRA) to prepare them to shoulder the responsibilities of guiding juniors and advising seniors.
Senior Level Specialised Training on Essential Management Skills (STEMS): -
STEMS is for newly promoted Scientist 'G', as an in-house Executive Development Program which focuses on improvement in personality, attitude, thought process, behaviorism and techno-managerial knowledge to assume position in higher echelons in DRDO. This program has been designed to fulfill the future human capital requirements of the organization and to ensure the succession of project leaders and directors. The contents have been selected keeping in mind that the scientists have already undergone MITRA at the level of scientist 'D'. In addition, STEMS is also planned to have a one week of Foreign Component as an exposure to world class practices in area of System Development & Technology Management.
