HEMRL is working closely in 23 sub projects with system laboratories of other cluster labs viz. DRDL, RCI, NSTL, DLJ, GTRE, ASL and ADE to develop various armament, aircrafts, torpedo, missiles and allied systems. HEMRL is developing all types of pyro devices, igniters, warheads and rocket motors for both tactical and strategic systems being developed in the country.
HEMRL has active collaboration with ARDE in 6 sub projects and other Labs of ACE cluster like PXE, ACEM & CVRDE in other major projects in the area of hardware, ammunition, evaluation etc.
To expedite the development cycle of systems / sub-systems of various programmes / projects and to facilitate subsequent induction / production, HEMRL is always striving for academia & Industry participation. Using the expertise and infrastructure available with Indian Industry, HEMRL has established synthesis and production of various high energy materials & processing technologies successfully. Large number of compositions and filling technologies were effectively transferred to Indian Ordnance Factories for production of various ammunition, bombs, warheads & propulsion systems of rockets / missiles.
DRDO has started a centre known as ACRHEM ( Advanced Centre for Research in High Energy materials) at University of Hyderabad, for objective oriented research in high energy materials with active association of academia.
HEMRL has also engaged in Collaborative Research Programs with International Institutes like ARDEC, GosNIIKhP, RoE etc. and National Institutes like IITs, CSIR labs, IISER and various Universities. HEMRL is a recognized post graduate research centre for M.Sc. and Ph.D.
