DRDO has taken up a project for delivery of Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft system to Indian Air Force with all mission systems. The AEW&C System consists of sensors mounted on an aircraft, for locating and providing early warning of airborne & sea surface targets and hostile emissions. The System also provides comprehensive information to the controllers on-board of the aircraft as well as to the ground stations. The mandate was to develop AEW&C systems with mission avionics systems installed & integrated on board EMB-145 AEW&C platforms. As per the above mandate, mission systems have been integrated on all the three aircrafts. The development trials have been conducted with user fully associated with all the evaluation process. Three aircrafts have been delivered in IOC configuration. Final Operational Clearance (FOC) is in advanced stage and is likely to be completed.
