DRDO is developing a Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) weapon system jointly with M/s Israel Aerospace Industry (IAI), Israel for Indian Air Force and Indian Army Air Defence (AAD). MRSAMs are advanced, all weather, 360 degree, mobile, land based, medium range air defence surface to air missile system for the protection of own territories and ground forces from air attacks by enemy aircraft and guided weapons. Two different Programmes for two different end users (Army & Airforce) have been taken up. This Joint Development Programme between DRDO & IAI is not only for development, but also for production of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for associated end users. A number of firing units have been delivered to IAF and IA.
