The System Test and Integration Rig (STIR) is a unique facility used to test and evaluate functionalities and performance levels of integrated Airborne Early Warning and Control system before being installed on the aircraft. It allows simulation of actual scenario with several thousand targets to be injected into the integrated system to enable evaluation of the integrated system for all aspects including the system load performance and overall system performance under simulated and operational environments.
The PNFM facility created at CABS is one of the largest in the Asian region and fully meets the Active Electronically Scanned Array test requirements for the AEW&C programme as well as the larger follow on programmes.
Facilitates measurements of the Omni directional and directional antennas
Aids in measurements of performance parameters like Noise Figure, Gain, Power Output, RF Attenuator and RF Phase shifter responses, Responses of the TR Module for pulsed RF (Ex: Pulse Droop, Raise and fall Time).
The Test facility can be used for EMI/EMC compliance testing of Airborne subsystems and LRUs to meet MIL STD 461F requirements. The facility is being augmented with RS-103 testing up to 40 GHz with 200 V/m electric field.
The lightning test facility at CABS can be used to design and test the lightning protection scheme and ensure the lightning worthiness of aircraft. The lightning test facility is equipped for conducting all the High Voltage and High Current tests as per MIL, SAE, FAR specifications.
Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) are two accelerated methods used to reveal the design and process weaknesses of a product very quickly during the development and production phases using the combined effects of vibration and temperature. 3 Ton capacity facility can be used to conduct shock as well as vibration for the qualification tests such as swept sine, dwell, random, random on random, sine on random, classical shock and shock response spectrum.
Power burn-in, thermal cycling, high/low temperature storage cum operation tests of various subsystems for airborne application can be performed by using climatic chambers.
The centre has a High Technology Avionics Flight Test Bed with onboard additional power, thermal management system, and instrumentation for flight development and testing of airborne radar and avionics systems. AVRO is still being used for flight development and testing of airborne and avionics systems.
The AEW&C System Simulator (AEWCSS) used for simulating the AEW&C Session similar to that of the actual AEW&C Mission System. The AEW&C Simulation Facility is both a Design Validation tool and Performance Evaluation Resource.
Used for simulation and realistic view. We have also planned to use it for maintenance training. Rapid Prototype facility is established to manufacture prototype during early stages.
The IFF radiation test Facility is a state of the art integration test setup that shall be used to validate different types of Mk XII(S) / Mk XII(A) systems. It has unique provision of integrating the IFF system with Active as well as Passive Electronically Scanned Antenna Array.
