In 1984, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam envisioned the need for Avionics Research Laboratory. On 03rd Aug 1985, the Foundation Stone was laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi and subsequently, on 27th Aug 1988, Research Centre Imarat (RCI) was inaugurated by Hon’ble President of India Shri R. Venkatraman. RCI, a brainchild of Dr Kalam was led by many visionaries who transformed the laboratory as a technology hub and made the country self-reliant in missiles, smart weapons, critical aerospace systems and technologies. Ever since its inception, RCI has been nurtured to pursue R&D in the cutting edge technologies and is highly regarded as the Centre of Excellence for Navigation, Guidance and Control Systems.
