Student Internship
Students with unique skills and a passion for hands-on problem-solving often thrive in environments that allow them to build, experiment, and make thoughtful decisions. Internships in DFTM projects offer these students the opportunity to engage with real- world challenges at the right time and place. Many young researchers, particularly those in remote institutions, have a fresh perspective on the world and approach problems differently.
To enhance the research ecosystem, DRDO is institutionalizing innovative initiatives across its DIA-CoEs. As part of this effort, DRDO has created a structured grant system to encourage student involvement in cutting-edge defense research. Principal Investigators (PIs) can request approval for student internships within each project to nurture this talent. This system enables young, enthusiastic individuals to collaborate with PIs on DIA-CoE projects, gaining invaluable experience in defense innovation.

Hackathons
Hackathons are another key initiative under each project to tap into the problem-solving spirit of young minds. These events encourage participants to unlock their creative potential and provide fresh solutions to real-world defense challenges. By involving students in these collaborative events, DRDO ensures that the next generation of researchers is deeply engaged in defense innovation. Hackathons not only foster innovation but also address practical defense research problems, helping to advance technology and solutions that meet national defense needs.
