To work as nodal agency for development of indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems and for work relating to AWACS and other Airborne Surveillance Systems and platforms.
To carry out system engineering which includes requirement analysis, functional analysis and allocation, preliminary system design, evolving subsystem specifications, qualification and acceptance testing of subsystems, system integration and system evaluation and testing, configuration control and change management of indigenous AEW&C systems during the life cycle of the programme.
To coordinate all the programme management activities to ensure that the indigenous development is within the projected cost and time frame and meets the operational requirements.
To carry out all system related activities for indigenous AEW&C development including the following: -
Development of command, control, communications and computer intelligence (C4I) system
Development of System Test and Integration Rig
Carry out independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)
Evolve qualification/ Acceptance procedures and
Carry out system integration, performance evaluation and testing
To lay down and implement procedures for strict monitor and control of the progress of the Programme in terms of cost and time.
To carry out any development activities not undertaken by any other work-centers.
To initiate new/ alternative activities towards improving system performance considering futuristic requirements of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
To plan and recommend continuous upgrades in technologies and maintenance policies.
To work as a Nodal Laboratory for work relating to IFF.
Flight Research & Development activities including Instrumented Flight Test Bed of specifically nominated Avionics and Aircraft Stores.
Maintenance of special infrastructure such as Lightning Test Facility (LTF), aircraft, specialized rigs etc.
