Kailash Kumar Pathak is appointed as Director, Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM) with effect from 24th Sept 2019. He received his BSc Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from AMU, Aligarh in Year 1985 and M.Tech in Solid Mechanics & Design from IIT Kanpur in year 1994. He started his career as Scientist ‘B’ at Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in February 1987.
He has steered the design, analysis, development and dynamic testing activities of various armament systems for more than 25 years. He contributed in many important projects / programs such as 120 mm Cannon Launched Guided Munition (CLGM), Anti-Submarine Rocket for RBU 6000 Launcher, New Family of Munitions (NFMs), Range Enhancement of Torpedo ‘Mohini’, 30mm Air Defence Gun System and Fin Stabilized Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot (FSAPDS) munition. He has expertized in design and analyses of defence systems using Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and set up state-of-the-art virtual product development facility. He was entrusted various lead responsibilities during his professional journey as Division Head, Group Head and Project Manager at ARDE.
After transfer to DRDO HQrs on 10th January 2014, he joined Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM). He contributed for developing a framework, policy formation, planning, execution and management for establishing new advanced technology centres in the country for multi-institute collaborative directed research. He has played a key role in establishing a DRDO-IITD Joint Advanced Technology Centre (JATC) at IIT Delhi and engaged large numbers of faculties, scientists and researchers in collaborative directed research projects. He has been continuously contributing and endeavoring for developing collaborative research Eco-system within academia for developing crucial & cutting-age technologies for defence and security of the nation.
