Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh headed by the Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal along with his team comprising of Executive Councilors (Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest and Cooperative) and Councilors, representing different regions of Ladakh had a lively user interactive meet at Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) Leh on 30 Jan 2019.

They were oriented about the various accomplishments of DIHAR in the recent past with regard to technology adoption and popularization of winter potato storage, mulching & watermelon cultivation, value addition & certification of local germplasm. The team visited various types of greenhouses and the diversified crops being grown inside them even during the peak winter months (minus 180C) of January in Ladakh condition. CEC appreciated the R&D works of DIHAR and requested to take a proactive role in fulfilling the vision of LAHDC to make and brand Ladakh as a pure organic food producer. Dr OP Chaurasia, Director, DIHAR acknowledged the support of LAHDC in fulfilling the mandate of the institute and assured them for continuous scientific endeavors to make Ladakh a model district in the country as well as meeting Army’s fresh requirement locally.
