Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) is striving for high technology-based cost-effective and reliable armament and weapon systems through sustained efforts in research, design, development, productionisation and induction into Indian Armed Forces.
The progress of ARDE over more than six decades can be viewed as a journey from the "know-what" and "know-how" phase to the "know-why" phase of armament design and development The capability of ARDE is involved in research, development, prototyping, test and evaluation, and transfer of technology activities, including limited scale pilot-plant production of crucial items in the complex multi-disciplinary field of conventional armament technology.
Core Competence of Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) are: Weapon Systems; Aerodynamics and Ballistics; Air Delivered Munitions; Air Pilot Plant; Free Flight Artillery Rockets and Launcher Systems; Fuzes, Sensors and Safety Arming Devices; Ammunition; Piezo - Ceramics Development and Pilot Plant Production; Warheads for Missiles and Rockets; PGMS.
