Dr. Manu Korulla, Outstanding Scientist & Director (DCW&E and DMS) has a B Tech degree from Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT), an MS Degree in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering as well as a PhD in Hydrodynamics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He also has an International PG Diploma in Project Management from I2P2M and George Washington University, USA.
After a four year tenure at the GRSE Ltd. Kolkata a public sector shipyard, he joined the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) at their Hydrodynamic research facility at Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam as a Scientist. During his tenure at NSTL he was heading the Hydrodynamic Research & Mechanical Systems Directorates and was Principal Project Director for the development of Autonomous Sea Vehicles.
He has worked for over 34 years on several important project assignments relating to the design & development of marine vehicle systems, Advanced marine crafts, multi hull ships, Submarines, Submersibles, Underwater & Hybrid Weapons. He has made outstanding contributions in establishing world class Hydrodynamic Tests and Evaluation Facilities including Field Trial facilities for Naval Systems. He was conferred the 'Scientist of the Year 2017' award for his outstanding contributions in Naval Research and Development.
