Various activities were conducted during Swachta Hi Sewa fortnight at DEAL, Dehradun from 15 September to 02 October 2018. Waste segregation and management awareness drive was carried in the DEAL colony. Pamphlets elaborating the segregation techniques were distributed among the residents. Shopkeepers were apprised of the plastic menace and were advised not to use plastic bags and single use disposable materials. Pits for the bio-degradable waste were dug at the DEAL technical premise to cater for the wet-canteen waste. Lecture on "Cleanliness is Everyone Business" was delivered by Mr. Karan Kapoor, President (Elect) of MAD (Making a Difference) organisation. On 02 October, DEAL employees conducted a Heritage walk cum Cleanliness drive at the historical "Khalanga War" memorial of Dehradun, spearheaded by Dr. RS Pundir, Director, DEAL. Overall 30 bags of plastic waste was collected and handed over to a NGO for recycling.
