NSTL observed ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’- Pakhwada from 30 Sep – 02 Oct 2018 at NSTL Campus Visakhapatnam with wide participation of all employees of NSTL, O/o DG NS&M and also employees of other offices MES, AO(R&D), School and members of Mahila Kalyan Manch. The followings are the events and activities conducted during this Pakhwada,

1. The SHS-Pakhwada-2018 was officially inaugurated by Director NSTL on 15 Sept 2018 at NSTL as per the schedule of Union Government of India.
2. Shramdaan day was observed on 30 Sept 2018 for all NSTL employees along with wide participation of other offices like O/o The DG NS&M, O/o AO(R&D), AGE(I)/MES, Ramnath School and Mahila Kalyan Manch. More than 350 participants along with the Director NSTL and the DG NS&M has also joined for the shrandaan and made this campaign a grand success.  
3. Awareness camp on hygiene & sanitation for school students of GVMC MPP School at Laxmi Nagar and GVMC UP School at Buchirajupalem was organized. SS Water Storage Containers with Tap fitted and handkerchiefs were distributed to School students. The campaign was well appreciated and students were benefited out of it.
4. Painting completion for school students on Swachhata theme (in 2- different categories) and also for employees/ family members of NSTL/AGE(I)/ AO(R&D)/ School was conducted. Large numbers from family members and students participated in these competitions.
5. Essay writing competition on “Swachhata Hi Seva” was also conducted for school students and prizes were distributed to winners.
6. A swachhata awareness camp was also conducted at a slum area near Bharat Nagar near NSTL and distributed about 100 nos of hygiene kits to the residents of the slum.
7. NSTL has also taken initiatives to realize 03 nos of Biogas plants of 1500ltr capacity for efficient management of the wet waste for useful purpose.
8. Further, at NSTL technical campus, setting up of 3-compost pits is being initiated. Drawing, plan and location are finalised.
9. At NSTL Residential campus, an initiative has been made to separate the wet and dry waste starting from each quarter by providing separate bins and also an efficient waste management plan will be adapted and implemented soon.
10. The concluding function of “Swachhata Pakhwada” was celebrated on 2nd Oct 2018 along with Gandhi Jayanti celebration by displayed of the paintings received in connection with the competitions and also selected pictures of various events, distribution of prizes to winners.
11. “Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada” from 15 Sept – 2nd October 2018 was celebrated at NSTL with large participation of employees and their family members and also NSTL Mahila Kalyan Manch by making this campaign a grand success.

Awareness Camp on Hygiene & Sanitation for School students of GVMC MPP School at Laxmi Nagar and GVMC UP School at Buchirajupalem was organized. Stainless Steel water storage containers with tap fitted and handkerchiefs were distributed to school.
