Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) organized 26th Ladakhi Kisan Jawan Vigyan Mela on 29th & 30th Aug 2019 with the aim to disseminate technical know-how of various agro-animal technologies developed by DIHAR among the local farmers and troops deployed in Ladakh sector. The Mela was inaugurated by Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Govt of India in presence of Shri Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, LAHDC, Leh; Sh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP (Ladakh); Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Defence R&D & Chairman, DRDO; Lt Gen YK Joshi, AVSM, VrC, SM, GOC, HQ 14 Corps; Dr A K Singh, DS & DG (LS), DRDO and Dr OP Chaurasia, Director DIHAR. Representatives from LAHDC, Army and district officers, Local farmers and Students were present during the ceremony in large numbers. Shri Rajnath Singh appreciated DIHAR for its endeavors over the years since 1960s and appreciated the scientists and local farmers in helping Army by providing quality organic fresh foods to the troops and expected DIHAR to develop a high altitude survival model for troops.
