HMX based high explosive composition and in-situ filling technology for Astra warhead of supersonic missile system has been developed by HEMRL. The missile is a supersonic one and the warhead is designed to be a part of the airframe. Missile is designed to be launched from fighter class of aircrafts like SU-30, Mirage-2000, MIG-29, LCA-Tejas etc. Astra missile system is developed to neutralize aerial targets such as F-16 aircraft. Filled warheads have been successfully tested for static and dynamic performance.
