Advance Light Towed Array Sonar (ALTAS) is a sensing system for the detection, localisation and classification of submarines operating especially in the below sonic layer. It is useful in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) operations and is used as a sensor for warships to locate silent submarines capable of launching high speed torpedoes.
