Introduction: Crawling insects like cockroaches, bedbugs, flies are nuiscence as well as carrier of pathogens. Although various insecticides are recommended for management of these insects, repeated use of insecticides is harmful to human health. Keeping this in mind, DRDE Gwalior has developed a Slow Release Insecticidal Paint (SRIP) that can be applied on various surfaces to kill any crawling insects that comes in contact for a period of minimum one year. Successful field trials of SRIP have been conducted in DRDE, Indian Naval ships, in Indian railways and also in Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).
Salient Features:
Benefits: Single application of SRIP can kill crawling insects for more than year where repeated application of insecticides can be avoided.
How to Use: Apply SRIP uniformly on any surface like wall, wood, metal et. using paint brush. After drying, apply another coat.
Current Status: Technology has been transferred to two firms.
