GREEN HI-TECH PREFABRICATED BIOTOILET

DRDO has perfected an eco-friendly, maintenance-free, cost-efficient bio-degradation technology for human waste disposal for Armed Forces deployed at high altitude. The effluent is odorless and gets rid-off most of the pathogens. Around 90, 000 biodigesters have been installed in Indian Railways for on-board treatment of human waste. Hundreds of such biodigesters have also been installed at various locations in J&K, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. Lakshadweep administration has ordered 12, 000 biodigesters for houses of its 10 islands. Around 76 technology transfers have taken place.
