Introduction

Present set up of AR&DB panels deal with many issues of analysis. However, the R & D efforts related to CAD, CAM, and Rapid prototyping, Rapid Tooling and similar such time compression technologies (TCT's) are not directly covered by any existing panel. Promotion of a panel on Aerospace production technologies is sensitizing agencies dealing with the production aspects.

Charter of New Panel on Materials & Manufacturing

  • To encourage R&D activities in the areas critical for production and prototyping of aerospace systems such as aircrafts, satellites, missiles etc.
  • To develop new technologies, which will lead to reduced time and costs for design, prototyping production and repair of aerospace systems.
  • To co-ordinate with specialist panels dealing with the design of aerospace systems in to the actual development of prototyping and production as required by agencies like ADA, HAL, DRDO, ISRO, etc.,
  • To promote consciousness of value analysis & value engineering in development & manufacturing processes to enable availability of quality products at affordable prices.
  • To generate flexible manufacturing capabilities for accommodating mixed product profiles at work centres.
