Lithium Thermal Batteries (150, 175, 500W)

Lithium iron disulphide thermal batteries are primary reserve batteries. The electrolyte in the thermalbatteries.jpg (507671 bytes)battery is in solid-state condition at ambient temperature. The battery is activated through an igniter that is held inside to raise the temperature above 352C and operates at an internal temperature of 500C. Pyroelectric material like iron powder potassium per chlorate/zirconium barium chromate is placed between the cells in the battery for obtaining the required temperature. Thermal batteries find application in missiles, rockets, bombs, mines, decoys, jammers, sonobuoys, smart ammunitions, torpedoes, and emergency starting power for military vehicles and aircraft, etc. These batteries are manufactured by M/s HBL NIFE Power Systems Ltd, Hyderabad.
