Residual Vapour Detection Kit

The Residual Vapour Detection Kit is an easy-to-use kit for detection of blister and nerve Residual Vapour Detection Kitagents, phosgene, mustard gas, ammonia (the training agent), cyanogen chloride and hydrogen cyanide in the atmosphere in the vapour or gaseous form. The kit consists of 60 detector tubes (including ten training tubes for ammonia), a hand pump for sucking air, a torch to work in the night, a heating device for sulphur mustard (SM) test, and an operation manual. The detection of agents is made by observing change in colour of the tube material. The kit contents are housed in an aluminium container with provision for attachment to body through straps/belts to keep the hands free. The kit caters to 10 tests each of five agents and ammonia.

Three-colour Detector Paper

Three-colour Detector Paper is used for detection of liquid blister and nerve agents. It is a Three-colour Detector Paperspecific  dye mixture impregnated paper possessing water repellent property. The paper sticks to any surface and  produces three distinct colours when comes into contact with   blister and nerve (G and V) agents. Three-color detector paper booklet comprises of 10 sheets each with easy tearing arrangement. The paper is protected with a plastic cover and can be used under a wide range of temperature and humidity.

Water Poison Detection Kit

The Water Poison Detection Kit is used for testing water sources like reservoirs, tanks, and wells Water Poison Detection Kitin battlefield as well as for routine testing under normal conditions. The contents of the kit such as reagent bottles, impregnated filter paper strips, essential glassware, etc. are housed in an aluminium container and are properly cushioned to withstand transport hazards. The kit can detect mercury, manganese, copper, lead, arsenic, cyanide, sulphur mustard, nerve agents and microbial contaminants. The kit caters to 50 tests for each type of contaminant except for nerve agents and microbial contaminants where it caters to 5 tests only. Semi-skilled personnel with proper training can use the kit.

Portable Gas Chromatograph

Gas chromatograph is normally a desktop laboratory instrument for qualitative and/or quantitative Portable Gas Chromatographanalysis of chemicals in food, pesticide and drug industries. In an effort to provide a field-based detection equipment for monitoring and quantifying chemical warfare agents, DRDO has developed a Portable Gas Chromatograph for field use. The system comprises an adsorbent-based input preconcentrator, a wide bore capillary column as GC separator kept in an oven followed by a photoionisation detector to provide electrical signal. The signal is received by a microprocessor-based data acquisition and alarm system that analyses and identifies the chemical present depending upon the retention time. The system is fitted with a visual and audio alarm, a plotter, and provides printed chromatogram using an in-built printer. This portable gas chromatograph does not use any  consumable other than batteries.

Nerve Agent Detector

The Nerve Agent Detector developed by DRDO consists of an electrochemical sensor, a Nerve Agent Detectormembrane pump and an electrolyte reservoir. A pair of noble metal wires is located in the sensor. The electrolyte in the reservoir is passed through the sensor. It contains an organic compound that reacts with the nerve agents to generate cyanide ions. As and when the wires come into contact with cyanide ions, the potential changes and is taken as a response. The equipment is fitted with visual and audible alarm, and a cyclone to filter off dust particles. It conforms to JSS 55555-L 2 test series specifications, The detector can be fitted on T -72 tank/AFVs, and ships with slight modifications.
