Continuing Education Programme
Under the continuing education programme (CEP) of DRDO, the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, organised a course on Office Automation during 26-30 June 2000. Dr A Unnikrishnan, Sci F, Adviser, Human Resource Development, NPOL, inaugurated the course. Eighteen participants from NPOL attended the course. The topics covered during the course were: Word 2000, Excel in office automation and a general overview of the computer network system. The faculty was drawn from NPOL and NIIT, Kochi. Shri V Chander , Director, NPOL, presided over the valedictory function and distributed the course certificates to the participants.
A course on Terminal Ballistics Studies was conducted at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh, during 7-11 August 2000. Thirty participants from various DRDO labs/ estts attended the course. As a part of the programme, practical demonstration of firing trial was arranged for the participants.
The Proof & Experimental
Establishment (PXE), Chandipore, organised a course on Ballistics and Advanced Ballistics
Instrumentation, during 10-14 July 2000. Maj Gen US Abrol, Director & Commandant, PXE,
inaugurated the course. The topics covered during the course were: philosophy behind test
of armament stores, armour design, gun ballistics, ballistics measurements and measuring
instruments, etc. Sixteen participants from PXE and ITR attended the course.
The Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), Bangalore, organised a CEP course on MS Office during 10-21 July 2000. Twenty- four participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. The topics covered during the course were: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Powerpoint, MS Outlook, internet and e-mail. Shri SC Kaushal, Programme Director, GTRE, presided over the valedictory function and distributed certificates to the participants.
The Solid State Physics Laboratory (sspl), Delhi, organised a course on Bonding and Packaging of Semiconductor Devices & Circuits, during 7 -11 August 2000. Twenty-two participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. The topics covered during the course were: types of bonds, flip chip bonding and specialized machines, package and packaging, discrete device bonding and module formation, bonding failure analysis, thermal management, scribing and dicing tools and machines, and bonding and characterisation of high frequency gun diode. The faculty was drawn from CEERI, Pilani; GAETEC, Hyderabad; and sspl. Dr Pran Kishan, Associate Director, sspl, presided over the valedictory function and distributed course certificates to the participants. Dr (Mrs) R Gulati was the course coordinator .
