CVRDE, Avadi

Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, organised a course on Emerging Technologies in Light Armoured Tracked Vehicles and its Variants during 8-12 August 2005. Nineteen participants attended the course. Shri R Jayakumar, Sci G, Addl Director, inaugurated the course while Shri S SunDAREsh, Sci G, Associate Director, delivered the valedictory address.

Defence Scientific Information and Documentation Centre (DESIDOC), Delhi, organised a course on Information, Database and Knowledge Management during 19-23 September 2005. Thirty-eight participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr Mohinder Singh, Director, DESIDOC inaugurated the course and also presided over the valedictory function. The course included lectures on database creation and management, web-based KM services-DRDO website, information services and knowledge management, e-commerce and e-contracts, copyright, patent, trademarks, IPR issues in KM and licensing of electronic contents, cyber crime, cyber terrorism and national and international cyber laws, information technology act 2000, etc. Shri SC Saxena, Sci D and Shri Sumit Goswami, Sci C were the Course Director and Course Coordinator, respectively.

DFRL, Mysore

Prof Das delivering the key note address

Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Mysore, organised a course on Physical Properties of Food and Related Materials during 19-23 September 2005. Prof H Das, Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur inaugurated the course and delivered the keynote address. Nineteen participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr AS Bawa, Director delivered the valedictory address.

RCI, Hyderabad

Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, organised a course on Requirements and Requirements Review during 12-16 September 2005. Twenty-two participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course which was inaugurated by Dr S K Ray, Associate Director, RCI. Shri Avinash Chander, Outstanding Scientist & Director, ASL released a book edited by Shri Rajendra Prasad, Director, R&QA. Shri Rajendra Prasad, Director, R&QA was the Course Director while Shri P B V Rama Murthy Sci D, R&QA was the Course Coordinator.

NPOL, Kochi

Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, organised a course on Networking and Communication during 8-12 August 2005. Shri V Chander, Director, inaugurated the course which was attended by twenty-seven participants from various DRDO labs/estts. The topics covered included serial and parallel communication and networks, LAN and WAN components, broadband transport techniques like SONET, ISDNI ATM, fiber optic communication, cryptography, data compression, etc. Shri S Ananthanarayanan, Associate Director, presided over the valedictory function and distributed the course certificates. Smt T M Jayamma, Sci E was the Course Coordinator.



NBCD Specialisation Course

Defence Laboratory (DL), Jodhpur, organised a NBCD Specialisation Course during 12-16 September 2005 for 14 Naval Officers from INS Shivaji, Lonavla. Shri PK Bhatnagar, Offg Director inaugurated the course which included topics on nuclear raDIATion detection and measurement instruments, calibration techniques, modern trends in protection from ionising raDIATions, biological effects of raDIATion and operational level. Shri G L Baheti, Head, NRMA division delivered the welcome address. Dr M P Chacharkar, Director, Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur presided over the valedictory function. Shri DK Tripathi, Sci D, was the Course Coordinator while Shri G L Baheti was the Course Director.

NCE, INS Shivaji, Lonavla

A view of the Passing Out Parade

Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji, Lonavla witnessed a glittering Passing Out parade of 61 officers, including 5 officers from 91st Basic Engineering Course and 56 officers from 17th Naval Engineering Course. Lt General Balraj Singh Takhar, PVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, Pune reviewed the parade. General Takhar was also the Chief Guest for the valedictory function.
