BV Baliga Memorial Award
Shri G Elangovan, Sci G, Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bangalore, has been awARDEd 4th IETE-BV Baliga Memorial Award for his distinguished contributions in electronics and communication in R&D and industrial developments. The award was conferred on 29 September 2001 at the inaugural session of the 44th Annual Technical Convention of the IETE at Bangalore.
Dr P Brammaiah Sastri Memorial Award
Dr T Lazar Mathew, Director, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi, has been awARDEd the prestigious Dr P Brammaiah Sastri Memorial Award in recognition of his significant contributions in the advancement of biomedical sciences. The award was presented at the inaugural function of the XXII Annual Conference of Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists (IABMS) organised at the Presidency College, Chennai, on 12 October 2001.
Young Scientist Award
Dr NS Kumar, Sci D, Defence Bio-engineering and Electro-medical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bangalore, has been awARDEd the Young Scientist Award-2001 by Brig SK Mazumdar Memorial Trust, New Delhi, for his outstanding work on NBC Respiratory Mask for Defence Requirement. Prof AS Paintal presented the award at a function organised by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi, at LASTEC Auditorium, Metcalfe House, Delhi, on 24 September 2001.
K Suryanarain Rau Award
Shri V Balamurugan, Sci D, Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, has been awARDEd K Suryanarain Rau Memorial Junior Student Award 2001 for research and development in smart technology, for his work on active vibration control of smart beams, plates and shells using piezoelectric materials at the XV Annual General Meeting of Indian Society for Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (ISAMPE), on 7 September 2001. The above work has been carried out by Shri Balamurugan as a part of his MS thesis under the guidance of Prof S Narayanan, which has been submitted to the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT, Chennai.
Acharya PC Ray and Ambuja Cement Award
Shri D Jaiprakash, Sci B, Institute of Armament Technology (IAT), Pune, has been awARDEd Acharya PC Ray Award of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Kolkata and Ambuja Cement Award 2001 for his chemical engineering degree project work entitled, Plant Design for the Manufacture of Bio-Synthetic Human Insulin.
