GTRE, Bangalore

Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), Bangalore, organised a course on Machining Technology of Aerospace Materials during 7-11 March 2005. Thirty-nine participants from various labs/estts attended the course. Shri PV Augusty, General Manager, IMGT Cell, HAL (Engines ), Bangalore was the Chief Guest and gave away the certificates.

GTRE, Bangalore, also organised a course on Reservation & Recent Trends in Promotion and Recruitment during 14-18 February 2005. Twenty-five participants from various labs/estts attended the course.

PXE, Balasore

Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE), Balasore, organised a course on Experimental Methods and Statistical Techniques during 7-11 February 2005. Seventeen participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Shri KK Chand, Sci C, was the Course Coordinator.

DIPAS. Delhi

Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, organised an International Workshop on Emerging Trends in High Altitude Physiology and Medicine at United Services Institute (USI), Delhi Cantt during 8-10 January 2005. Dr W Selvamurthy, CC R&D (LS&HR) inaugurated the workshop which was attended by 40 physiologists and medical specialists from India and abroad. Medical specialists from the office of DGAFMS and physiologists from various national laboratories, universities and DRDO delivered lectures on recent developments in various aspects of high altitude, physiology and medicine. A compendium of research publications of DIPAS on High Altitude (1960-2004) was also released.

DL, Jodhpur

Defence Laboratory (DL), Jodhpur and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, organised a National Symposium on Compact Nuclear Instruments and RaDIATion Detection (CNIRD-2005) during 2-4 March 2005. Dr D Banerjee, Distinguished Scientist and CC R&D (AMS) inaugurated the symposium. Shri RK Syal, Director, DLJ delivered the welcome address while Shri G Govindarajan, Director, E & I and A & M Groups, BARC, delivered the presidential address. Two-hundred participants from various research organisations, IITs, universities attended the symposium.

IAT, Pune

Institute of Armament Technology, (IAT), Pune, held the Valedictory function of POINTS-04 Course on 20 January 2005. Shri M Natarajan, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri was the Chief Guest. Shri YP Pathak, delivered the inaugural address. Prof MS Loknath, Programme Director, presented the course report. Shri M Natarajan awARDEd the certificates to 275 Officers and delivered the valedictory address. Prof RD Misal, was the Program Coordinator who proposed the vote of thanks. Dr W SeIvamurthy, CC R&D (LS&HR) and Shri RB Singh, Director, DHRD were also present on the occasion.

ITM, Mussoorie

Institute of Technology Management (ITM), Mussoorie, organised a course on Japanese Management Practices in Product Development during 21-24 March 2005. The aim of the course was to appraise middle/senior level scientists of DRDO regarding Japanese management practices which provide competitive edge to Japanese companies in their product development projects and to identify learning issues for DRDO laboratories. Fifteen participants from various DRDO labs/estt attended the course. Dr Narender Singh, Director, ITM inaugurated the course and delivered the valedictory address.
