Shri JK Sharma has taken over as Chief Executive (Airworthiness), Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC), Bangalore, wef 1 October 2001. As the head of the Centre, he is responsible for monitoring all airworthiness activities of 16 Regional Centres for Military Airworthiness (RCMAs) and assuring flight safety of military airborne vehicles and stores.
Shri Sharma, a post-graduate in Control Systems Engineering from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi joined ADE, Bangalore in 1971 as Senior Scientific Officer. He has worked on projects like Ajeet and Kiran simulator, flight control system for PTA, Falcon and design and development of digital fly-by-wire flight control system for LCA.
Before taking over as Chief Executive, CEMILAC, he was Group Director (Systems) at CEMILAC, coordinating all airworthiness activities involved in design, development, production updates, type approval, air-armaments, EW systems, missiles, aeronautical equipment's accessories at RCMAs, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Korwa. During 1997-2001 he was member of management/apex/executive boards of SANGRAHA, TEMPEST, CODE and KADECS projects.
Shri PU Deshpande, Sci H, has taken over as Director, Institute of Armament Technology (IAT), Pune, wef 1 January 2002, in addition to his assignment as Director, Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune.
Shri Deshpande, a graduate in Mechanical Engineering, obtained post-graduate diploma in Design Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, in 1969. In 1987, he did the prestigious international course on National Security and Strategic Studies at the National Defence College, New Delhi. He joined DRDO in 1966. He has been the design team leader for the development of kinetic energy ammunition in India and was project manager of MBT Arjun also. He served as the Director, Armaments during 1991-96 and CC R & D during 1996-2000 at DRDO HQrs, New Delhi.
Shri Deshpande is the recipient of DRDO Scientist of the Year Award 1983 and DRDO Award for Excellence 1986 as a team leader. He is a Fellow of National Academy of Engineers (FNAE), Institution of Engineering (FIE), Aeronautical Society of India, and a permanent invitee to the International Ballistics Committee.
