RAM AIR TEST FACILITY
Institute of Armament Technology (IAT), Pune, has commissioned a RAM Air
Test Facility which can carryout static tests of ducted rocket engines,
burning fuel rich solid propellants under simulated conditions of high
flight speed. This facility is capable of delivering a maximum of 0.2 kg/s
of air at l0 bar pressure and at 6730 K temperature. Several static firings
were conducted under various air-to-fuel ratios and air temperatures,
simulating the flight speeds of a typical missile propelled by an
air-breathing engine using Boron-based fuel rich solid propellant.
The facility and the detailed specification parameters can be made available
to the DRDO laboratories.
