Automated Test System for Testing Electronic Assemblies for Tanks

The Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, has recently developed an Automated Test System (ATS) for Testing Electronic Assemblies for Tanks, viz., gun control system; electronic units like gunner control box (GCB) and relay box. It is a quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) equipment which helps to check the items before fitting onto the tank in a short time, thereby, ensuring production schedules. It can also be used for debugging problems at the trial site. Input and output details and algorithms for software development and development of harnesses between Automated Test System (ATS) and Unit Under Test (UUT) are required for testing the unit.

The salient features of the facility are:

  • General purpose automated test system (ATS)
  • Only harnesses and software are required to be developed for testing any electrical or electronic assembly
  • Mobile system, hence can be moved anywhere
  • More number of UUT's can be tested in a short duration
  • Testing and trouble shooting have been made easy
  • It is a rugged system which can withstand high temperature, shock, vibration and dust
  • The system has man-machine interface facility and multimedia effect with male and female voice
  • Record of diagnostic history can be taken as hard copy
  • The application software is more user-friendly
  • The UUT can be tested in manual or auto mode
  • It has a self-check facility which checks thoroughly the add-on-cards and signal conditioning cards before starting the test
  • The system can be used as a training aid for the crew
