Shri VP Sandlas is also seen in the pictureThe Solidstate Physics Laboratory (sspl), Delhi, signed a contract with the Central Electronics Limited ( CEL) , Sahibabad, for setting up a facility at CEL for production of cadmium zinc telluride ( CZT) substrates, on 05 Apri1 2000. The contract was signed between Dr Vikram Kumar, Director, sspl and Shri Ajai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, CEL. Shri VP Sandlas, Distinguished Scientist and CC R&D, DRDO HQrs, New Delhi, and senior officers from DRDO HQrs, CEL and sspl were present on the occasion.
    The contract was signed as a follow-up of an MoU signed between sspl and CEL on 12 February 1999 for transfer of technology developed at sspl for production on CZT substrates at CEL to meet the in-house requirement of sspl for FPA work and as a step towards self-reliance in this critical area.

Two technologies developed by the Defence Matallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, have been transferred to the trade. These include:  A technology to produce anti-spark tools using Cu-Ti alloy. These tools have all advantages of the anti-spark tools made from Cu-Be alloy and in addition they are cheaper and non-toxic. The  technology has now been transferred to the Hindustan Everest Tools, New Delhi, for production.

Boropack-A is a boronizing mixture technology developed by DMRL which has been transferred to Fluidtherm Technology, Chennai and Boron-Carbide (India) , Mumbai.
