Operation Theatre & Ward Complex on Wheels

ImmeDIATe medical treatment to the injured soldiers in battlefield is of paramount importance. Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahmednagar, has designed and developed a Containerised Operation Theatre Complex and Wards on Ashok Leyland Stallion 4x4 vehicles. This complex can be easily transported by road, rail and established in the field location within a short time and made operational. The facilities consist of a 24-bed ward complex along with a operation theatre, pre-operative and post-operative room capable of carrying out varied medical treatments from first-aid to life saving surgeries.

The containerised operation theatre complex can be functional on the vehicle itself and interconnected by means of a central platform. The container can be dismounted from the vehicle and made operative on ground as per requirement. State-of-art medical equipment has been fitted on this vehicle with HVAC (heating, ventilating & air conditioning) system for environmental control. This operation theatre was tried in deserts during Operation Puranvijay with proper fumigation.

In addition to the use for Armed Forces, this complex can also be deployed for disaster management to provide essential medical cover to civil population affected by natural calamities.
