Continuing Education Programme

ADE, Bangalore

Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bangalore, organised a course on Materials Management in DRDO-A Practical Approach during 4-8 July 2005. The Director, ADE inaugurated the course while Shri SN Ghosh, PD (Kaveri), GTRE and Chairman, Material Management Advisory Committee delivered the key note address. Besides ADE, participants from labs/estts from Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Delhi attended the course.



DRDE, Gwalior

Defence Research and Development Establishment (DRDE), Gwalior, organised a course on Recent Trends in Biological Mass Spectrometry. Dr R Vijayaraghavan, Associate Director, inaugurated the course, which was attended by twenty-six participants from various DRDO labs/estts. Dr S K Raza, Sci E was the Course Director.

DRDL,Hyderabad

Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, organised a course on Materials Management during 26-30 April 2005. Shri GC Mohanta, Sci F, Director, CMM was the Course Director and Shri JN Mohanty, Sci E was the Course Co-coordinator. Shri CM Dhawan, Director Materials Management, DRDO HQrs was the invited guest for panel discussion and valedictory function.

ITM, Mussoorie

Institute of Technology Management (ITM), Mussoorie, organised a course on R&D Management during 6-10 June 2005. The course aimed at highlighting practical issues for implementation of concept of R&D management for achievement of higher product quality, reduce project cost and the time frame.

ITM also organised a course on Techno-Managerial Skills for Scientific Officers during 13-17 June 2005. The aim of the course was to orient young scientists about organisational and technological issues and basic techno-managerial issues of R&D projects, as relevant to DRDO. Twenty-one participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr Narender Singh, Director, inaugurated the course and also delivered the valedictory address.

ITM also organised a course on IPR Skills during 20-24 June 2005. The aim of the course was to create awareness among the participants about practical aspects of intellectual property rights (IPR); to use IPR as a strategic tool for Defence R&D and prepare the scientists for challenges in the wake of emergence of product patent regime. Twenty-four participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Shri Somnath, Managing Director, NRDC, Delhi delivered the valedictory address.

 

Other Courses / Conferences / Seminars

IRDE, Dehradun

Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE), Dehradun, organised a workshop on Thin Film Coatings during 11-12 March 2005. Prof AK Datta, Deptt of Physics, Calcutta University inaugurated the workshop. One hundred participants from R&D institutions, universities and related industries working in the area of thin films attended the workshop.

RCI, Hyderabad

Research Center Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, organised a workshop on Emerging Technologies on UAVs on 22 May 2005. Dr V K Saraswat, DS and Director, and Chairman of the Aeronautical Society of India, state chapter welcomed the guests. Shri M Natarajan, SA to RM in his address suggested better participation of private sector in various areas of Defence R&D and in Development of UAVs in the near future. Shri G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, Space Commission also delivered a talk. Vice Adm Raman Puri, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff and Shri R N Agarwal, Director, ASL also spoke on the subject with special reference to its impact in Defence Sector.
