Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, organised a
course on Latest Trends in Productivity Improvement during 15-19 December 2003.
Twenty-five participants from various DRDO Labs/Estts attended the course. Shri
K Kailasapathy, Addl Director delivered the inaugural and valedictory address.

Simulator Design Concepts during 3-7
November 2003. Shri S SunDAREsh, Addl Director inaugurated the course while Shri
B Rajagopalan, Addl Director delivered the valedictory address.
Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, organised a
course on Current Trends in Genomics and Proteomics during 24-28 December 2003.
Twenty-one participants from Life Sciences Labs of DRDO attended the course. Dr PK Banerjee, Director, DIPAS inaugurated the course. Dr Soma Sarkar, Sci E, was
the Course Coordinator.
Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), Bangalore, organised a course on
Product Development Technologies during 17-21 November 2003. Twenty-seven
participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr A Ramachandra,
Chairman, Board of Studies, VTU, Belgaum was the Chief Guest at the valedictory
High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune, organised a course on
Explosives and Environmental Safety
during 1-5 December 2003. Twenty-five
participants from various DRDO labs/estts attended the course. Dr NV
Muraleedharan, Regional Controller, Regional Controllerate of Safety (WR),
Ordnance Factory, Bhandara, inaugurated the course. Shri S Venugopalan, Sci F
was the Course Director and Shri P Roy, Sci E was the Course Coordinator.
Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, organised a course on
Organisational Procedures and Practices for Middle Level Management during 17-21
November 2003. Shri Gyanesh Kumar, IAS, District Collector, Ernakulam
inaugurated the course. Thirty-six participants from NPOL and other DRDO labs/estts
attended the course. Shri T Sreeprakash, Sci E was the Course Coordinator.
NPOL, Kochi also organised a course on
CNC Machining and Productivity
Improvement Techniques during 15-19 December 2003. Shri V Chander, Director,
NPOL inaugurated the course. Thirty-eight participants from NPOL and other DRDO

Other Courses /Conferences /Seminars
Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, organised an
INDO-US Workshop on Enhancing Human Performance in Military Environment during
11-13 November 2003. Dr VK Aatre, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri and
Secretary, Depatment of Defence R&D delivered the inaugural address. Lt Gen BN
Shahi, PVSM, AVSM,VSM,PHS, DGAFMS presided over the function. Ten deligates from
USA and fifteen from DRDO labs/estts and DGAFMS attended the workshop.
IRDE, Dehra Dun
Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE), Dehra Dun, and Group
for Forecasting and Analysis of Systems & Technologies (G-FAST), Delhi, jointly
organised a one-day Workshop on Electro-optical Sensors for Surveillance &
Target Acquisition on 10 December 2003 to identify the EO systems and
technologies for the next 10-15 years to enable taking up of new DRDO programmes.
Fifteen papers were presented covering the wide spectrum of sensors and
High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune, under the auspices of
High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) organised the
Seminar and Exhibition on High Energy Materials during 18-20 November 2003. Dr VK Aatre, SA to RM and Secretary, Depatment of Defence R&D inaugurated the
seminar. Shri M Natarajan, CC R&D delivered the keynote address. Dr Haridwar
Singh, Director HEMRL and President, HEMSI welcomed the guests. Dr SN Asthana
was the Convener of conference.
Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji, Lonavla
Naval College of Engineering (NCE), INS Shivaji, Lonavla, has witnessed yet
another glittering Passing Out Parade of 28 Naval Engineer-officers of 88th
Basic Engineering Course on 6 December 2003.The parade was reviewed by Vice Adm PC Bhasin, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Chief of
Materials, Naval HQrs, New Delhi. Fifteen Electrical and thirteen Mechanical
Engineer-Officers, under the able guidance of DRDO scientists posted at NCE,
underwent rigorous academic training of three-year leading to BTech from
Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
