Plant Biodiversity Awareness Programme

The Defence Agricultural Research Laboratory (DARL), Pithoragarh, organised a Biodiversity Awareness Programme on 15 December 2002 at Madkot, Munsiyari Block, Dist. Pithoragarh. During the programme interactive discussion was held with farmers, social workers, NGOs, student, teachers, and village level representatives of the area on biodiversity and its components, depletion of biodiversity at genetic, species and ecosystems level, impact of loss of biodiversity and strategies of its conservation.

Shri Sandlas addressing at the workshopNational Workshop on Microwave Applications A National Workshop on Microwave Applications (MA-2K2) was jointly organised by the Defence Terrain Research Laboratory (DTRL), Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, on 3 December  2002 to commemorate the Birth Centenary of Sir SC Bose. The workshop was co-sponsored by DRDO HQrs; Microwave Application Society of India (MASI); the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), International Development Centre Foundation; EMI/EMC Society and Anamaya Publications, all at New Delhi. Shri VP Sandlas, Distinguished Scientist & CCR&D (ECS), inaugurated the workshop while Prof Rajiv Saxena, Rector, JNU delivered the Presidential Address. Shri SS Goel, Director, Electronics & Instrumentation, DRDO HQrs delivered the theme talk on Life and Works of Sir JC Bose and also released a book on Microwave Applications. Around hundred dele-gates / invited speakers participated in the workshop. Shri RC Chakraborty, Director , DTRL was the Chairman and Dr J Behari, Professor; School of Environmental Sciences, JNU, New Delhi was the Secretary of the National Organising Committee of the workshop. The workshop was organised in two technical sessions followed by a valedictory  session. Six invited lectures by eminent speakers were read during the workshop.
 

Annual Conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society
Dr Swamy delivering the valedictory address The Defence Research & Development Establishment (DRDE), Gwalior, organised the 35th   Annual Conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society during 26-29 November 2002. Fifty scientists from abroad participated in the conference. Dr W  Selvamurthy Adviser, Biomedical Sciences, DRDO HQrs released the symposium brochure, About 350 research papers were presented mainly on the theme of drug development research in India, Dr RV Swamy, CC R&D(MLS) was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function.
