The pilotless target aircraft, Lakshya has been formally inducted into the ACM Tipnis and Dr Aatre at the formal ceremony of induction of Lakshya into the ServicesServices by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AY Tipnis, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, during a formal ceremony at the Interim Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, on 9 November 2000. Dr VK Aatre, SA to RM, was also present on the occasion. Lakshya, a reusable aerial target system, will be used by the three Services to train their gun and missile crew and combat pilots in a live weapon engagement. The Lakshya system has been developed by a group of DRDO laboratories with ADE as the nodal agency.
