PXE OBSERVES SAFETY DAY

The Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Balasore, observed Safety Day on 18 July 2001 in memory of late Major K Joseph. Wreaths were placed on the memorial by the staff and a pledge was taken to observe safety precautions. Shri GC Das, Offg Director & Commandant addressed the gathering and discussed hazards associated with day-to-day work and care to be taken to minimize risk of men and material.

FORTHCOMING EVENT

The International Radar Symposium India (IRSI-2001) is scheduled to be organised at Hotel Ashok, High Grounds, Bangalore, during 11-14 December 2001. This Symposium is jointly organised by the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Institution of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Bangalore Section, and Society of Electronic Engineers (SEE) with sponsorship from DRDO, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The Symposium will provide a forum for R&D scientists, academicians, production managers and users working in radar and related designs, simulation and evaluation methodologies which are contemporary and futuristic.

CABS OBSERVES QUALITY MONTH

The Centre for Air Borne Systems (CABS), Bangalore, observed Quality Month from 11 June to 10 July 2001 to celebrate the successful completion of one year of obtaining ISO-9001 certification. Four technical lectures by experts on quality related topics were organised to mark the ocassion .

UPPER AIR STATION FOR WEATHER FORECAST

Radio Sonde System being released at UAS, JammuAn Upper Air Station (VAS), part of Mountain Meteorology Programme-a joint venture of SASE, DST ( IMD and NCMRWF) , and the Army has been established in Jammu for recording the upper air data to be used for the prediction of accurate regional weather forecast for the Army in the mountainous terrain of Jammu and Kashmir. The station has started recording of upper air data from April 2001.
