     During the Annual Awards Function, in August 2014, Hon’ble Pradhan Mantri while addressing
the DRDO family, had directed that DRDO to recognise 5 laboratories where only scientists below
the age of 35 years will work to produce innovative, out-of-the box solutions to meet the needs
of the Armed Forces and will also be involved in decision making processes. This directive was
taken to heart by DRDO and by Dec 2014, seven centers were set up headed by young scientists
and tasked to draw out their own future roadmaps, both immediate and mid-term. Today, the
following centres are working in core areas of technology, with a focus on design and analysis:
